The quest titled A Bird in the Hand is one of the most memorable relationship missions in Hogwarts Legacy. Players team up with Poppy Sweeting to locate and protect the rare Snidgets from ruthless poachers. Successfully completing this objective requires solving environmental puzzles and surviving a tough combat encounter.
Starting the Quest and Locating the Ruins
To begin this quest, travel to the Brocburrow Floo Flame and head southeast into the forest. Meet Poppy Sweeting and the centaur Dorran near the entrance to ancient stone ruins. Before starting the puzzle, clear out any nearby hostile creatures that could disrupt your progress.
Place the Scholar's Moonstone onto the central pillar inside the stone circles to activate the ancient mechanism. This action causes two specific symbols on the entrance archway to glow brightly. Recognizing these symbols is the key step to unlocking the entrance.
Solving the Moonstone Light Puzzle
Look at the archway to identify the glowing sun symbol and the key-like symbol. Use the Accio spell to manipulate the two movable pillars surrounding the central moonstone. You must drag the pillars so their shadows illuminate the matching symbols marked on the ground.
Move the inner pillar between the sickle symbol and the crescent moon symbol to light up the sun pattern. Next, place the outer pillar between the key-like symbol and the Assassin-like rune to highlight the second symbol. Once both ground symbols shine, the door to The Gilded Perch will open automatically.
Navigating The Gilded Perch Elemental Puzzles
Inside the ruins, follow the main path until you reach a large chamber featuring elemental floor plates. You must locate two spell cubes hidden in the surrounding environment to open the main doorway. Use Wingardium Leviosa to position a wooden crate on the side of the room, then cast Levioso to elevate it so you can reach the upper ledge.
Retrieve the ice cube from the upper platform and place it onto the corresponding ice symbol on the floor. Move the fire cube onto the flame plate using Accio or Leviosa. Cast Glacius on the ice cube and Incendio on the fire cube to unseal the final doorway.
Defeating the Poachers and Completing the Mission
Entering the sanctuary triggers a battle against multiple waves of Ashwinder poachers. Use offensive spells to break enemy shields of matching colors and throw environmental objects to deal extra damage. Dorran and Elek will arrive during the battle to assist you in defeating the remaining foes.
After clearing the room of all enemies, interact with the sanctuary doors to view a heartwarming final cutscene. Completing this mission brings you one step closer to finishing Poppy's storyline and protecting the beasts of the Highlands.
